I really appreciate the Clojurians Zulip Chat.
Recently, we discussed a new tooling feature created by @whatacold and @timothypratley. We had to stabilize it relatively quickly for upcoming workshops by @kiramclean and others. Before stabilizing, we had to ask: Did we get it right with the UX? Should we change anything?
We created a couple of video tutorials brilliantly scripted by Timothy, and started a Zulip topic thread. A few of the wisest Clojure minds quickly joined, tested the new feature, and contributed their thoughts.
Many thanks to the amazing @whatacold @timothypratley @Markus_Agwin @Carsten_Behring @jpmonettas Julius Kibunjia and @joinr.
For a couple of days, I kept provoking the thread with the strangest ideas. This can be a decent method to encourage discussion, assuming everybody is patient and open-minded. And so everybody was.
Eventually, we realized the simple concept we started with would be the best option. Some people saw that quickly. To me, it took a couple of days. It was not a perfect consensus but a common realization based on shared principles.
Simple and stupid tools can create great user experiences with fantastic clarity. The Clojure community knows that. It also knows to be kind, patient, and helpful.
We will share the little fruit of that process in a separate post. Let us keep helping each other.
